When it comes to real estate, we take the road less traveled. Our wholly owned subsidiary, Madbury Properties, rigorously pursues well-located properties that are undervalued, undermanaged, undercapitalized – in other words, overlooked by other investors. We upgrade high-leverage areas of these properties and improve property management through people, processes, and systems. That’s been the linchpin of our strategy to achieve attractive returns with disproportionately lower risk.
We’ve established a strong beachhead in northern New England, where we own and operate assets through a blend of value-add acquisitions and ground-up developments. Our largest investments – in Durham, New Hampshire – have made us the leader in student housing for the University of New Hampshire with 800 beds and 50% share of the downtown market.
More recently, we’ve made further investments in these regions in multi-family and commercial properties.
By combining two strategic land sites, partnering with the University of New Hampshire and aligning with the town of Durham, New Hampshire, we successfully developed Madbury Commons, a 225,000 sf mixed-use development. This was the state’s largest construction project in in 2015, and made us the largest student-housing operator in New Hampshire.
Madbury Commons features 126 units of student housing (525 beds) and 43,000 sf of commercial space, including dining and banking facilities.
