Our Operating Companies

Boutique Inns
and Short-term rentals.

We develop, own, and operate a unique concept of boutique Inns. These are well located properties in vacation destination markets in the Northeast.  Our inns are small, well appointed, and highly automated.  Guests experience intimate accommodations full of character, charm, and nearby attractions.  We emphasize superior room quality, exclusive design, personal concierge, and convenience rather than often unused amenities found in typical cookie cutter hotels. Beyond boutique hotels, we operate a network of short-term rental units ranging from one to four bedrooms. These units are particularly well-located near prime vacation destinations be they seaside, ski side or other popular locations.

End-to-End Development, Construction, and Distribution of Renewable Energy

Our proven team is passionate about delivering the next generation of renewable energy – including solar energy and storage facilities that effectively provide clean, predictable, low-cost energy for off-takers, utilities, and municipalities. Through the vertically integrated capabilities of our wholly owned subsidiary, Agilitas Energy, we invest in and oversee distributed photovoltaic and energy-storage projects throughout the Northeast.

We source funding and develop the capital structure to support the full project lifecycle including seed capital, construction, and permanent debt as well as tax equity. And our development team directs projects through entitlement while our internal engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company makes them happen. Few developers can match our 100% success rate of taking projects from Notice to Proceed (full permitting) to commercial operation.

Disciplined Focus on Undervalued Commercial Multi-Family Opportunities

When it comes to real estate, we take the road less traveled. Our wholly owned subsidiary, Madbury Properties, rigorously pursues well-located properties that are undervalued, undermanaged, undercapitalized – in other words, overlooked by other investors. We upgrade high-leverage areas of these properties and improve property management through people, processes, and systems.   That’s been the linchpin of our strategy to achieve attractive returns with disproportionately lower risk.

We’ve established a strong beachhead in northern New England, where we own and operate assets through a blend of value-add acquisitions and ground-up developments. Our largest investments – in Durham, New Hampshire – have made us the leader in student housing for the University of New Hampshire with 800 beds and 50% share of the downtown market.

More recently, we’ve made further investments in these regions in multi-family and commercial properties.

About the project

By combining two strategic land sites, partnering with the University of New Hampshire and aligning with the town of Durham, New Hampshire, we successfully developed Madbury Commons, a 225,000 sf mixed-use development. This was the state’s largest construction project in in 2015, and made us the largest student-housing operator in New Hampshire.

Madbury Commons features 126 units of student housing (525 beds) and 43,000 sf of commercial space, including dining and banking facilities.
